Enclosed is a reminder of our upcoming emergency testing for email and texting.
Please be sure to read to the end to ensure we can easily contact parents with updates, events at your children’s schools, and emergencies.

We will be conducting our first test of our emergency systems for this school year this Thursday, August 15, 2024.
Please note that we have been using our communication systems, and they are fully operational. We are conducting this test to ensure all contact information in PowerSchool is accurate.
In the event of an emergency, the information currently in PowerSchool is the information that will be used to communicate with families.
If you have your cell phone number and email address in PowerSchool, you should receive BOTH a text and an email of the emergency test. If you do not receive a message on Thursday, August 15th, please contact your child’s school on August 16th to ensure your information is accurate in PowerSchool.
Please see below for instructions on how to complete Returning Student Registration. New families completed this upon registration with us.
Please complete your child’s Returning Student Online Registration within the next week. You will use the PowerSchool Parent Portal to access the Returning Student Registration.
How do I get started?
Go to the PowerSchool Parent Portal. Once logged in to the Parent Portal:
Select the student you wish to register along the top tabs. (Please fill out the form for each of your children. PowerSchool will give you the option to copy the information for each of your children once you have filled it out for your first child.)
Select the Returning Annual Registration 24-25 icon on the left side for the current school year.
Agree to the terms and conditions.
Click Begin Forms.
Please carefully ensure all information is accurate.
Also, when you are in the Parent Portal, please click on the SchoolCare icon on the left to update your child's health information.
It is IMPERATIVE that you take just a few minutes to complete the Returning Student Registration each year. This process enables you to ensure the accuracy of your email addresses and phone numbers in PowerSchool. We use this information to contact you via email and text messaging regarding emergencies as well as other important information. If you do not have accurate contact information in PowerSchool, we will NOT be able to contact you in the case of an emergency at your child’s school.
Just as a reminder, per A.R.S. 15-802 parents/guardians are also required to reaffirm Arizona residency during the annual student registration. Thank you for carefully completing this important step of Returning Student Registration.
If you have been around Vail for any period of time, you have likely heard or seen us share VUSD’s motto that Vail is a place, “Where Education is a Community Effort.” We are grateful for our partnerships with parents and community members in classrooms, schools, and the district as a whole. There are a few district-wide events that occur in the year that enable us to live out our motto. Vail Family Connections Day is one one of them.
Vail Family Connections Day is simply a day where families can come together to have fun, learn, connect, and grow. The day is filled with breakout sessions for all ages! And, the entire day is completely FREE!
The event will begin with a grab-and-go breakfast and a quick introduction. Then families can choose two 45-minute breakout sessions with topics and activities for the whole family. Parents can drop their children off for free childcare and participate in sessions regarding parenting, mental health, and more. Or, families can enjoy sessions together with activities like painting, line dancing, gardening, and more. Free childcare is available for children 18 months to 12 years. The event will end with a Fun Fest and picnic lunch with free food, ice cream, cotton candy, snow cones, face painting, family photos, and so much more.
Vail Family Connections Day is happening on Saturday, September 14, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
